jean pagliuso photography
A commercial photographer for 35 years, Pagliuso worked with major fashion, news and style publications as a top fashion/portrait photographer in the US and abroad. She has also created movie posters for filmmakers Robert Altman, Ron Howard, Robert Redford, and Paul Schrader. Pagliuso’s New York exhibition, “Fragile Remains” (2004), presented a series of hand-applied silver gelatin photographs printed on Kaji rice paper that featured landscapes shot in Cambodia, India, New Mexico, Peru and Turkey. She also created a limited edition hand-bound book "Fragile Remains,” that includes photographs digitally printed with archival pigmented inks on Thai Mulberry paper.
Her recent exhibition, a collection of photographs entitled “The Poultry Suite,” opened February 2006 at the Marlborough Gallery. This was followed by an exhibition at The Drawing Room in East Hampton N.Y. in August 2006 to be followed by Marlborough Gallery Madrid in March 2007. The images are printed using the hand-applied silver emulsion process on Japanese Mulberry paper.
Pagliuso grew up in Glendale, California, and graduated from UCLA. Pagliuso today lives in New York and Santa Fe with her husband Tom Cohen and daughter Jesse.
